Naxos airport (JNX) – Useful information & tips

Naxos Airport is located on the south side of the island, approximately 3 km from the capital, Chora. Also known as “Apollo,” this small airport only receives flights from Athens. Two airlines, Sky Express and Aegean Airlines, serve Naxos, and due to its short 300-meter runway, only small aircraft can land here. Charter flights are also permitted to arrive and depart from Naxos Airport.

Transportation options to or from Naxos airport

Public bus from the airport

The local bus in Naxos serves the airport only during the summer, from May to October. If you visit the island in the winter, it’s advisable to arrange a taxi pick-up. There is only one bus station, located a short walk away (approximately 580 meters), called “Naxos Camping.”

Using the local bus is the cheapest way to get to the Chora of Naxos, and there is only one route (Bus Line Number 1). If you wish to go somewhere other than the capital of the island, you must go there first and then take another bus. Ticket prices range from 1.80 to 6.20 euros, depending on the distance and destination.

Where to Buy Your Naxos Bus Ticket

Naxos airport does not have a kiosk for purchasing tickets, nor can you buy them online. Unlike other Greek islands, in Naxos, you cannot pay the driver directly. However, you can take the bus and pay for your ticket at the final stop in Chora when you get off.

Naxos airport taxis

Outside the arrivals hall, there is a taxi rank with a few taxis waiting. This service is faster and smoother than using local transportation, but it is more expensive as taxis charge a standard fare plus an additional fee for every extra kilometer. Additionally, keep in mind that not all taxis accept credit card payments, so it would be wise to have some cash on hand.
